Here's a better picture of the board and batton siding looking from the back.

Hello there. We do not know each other, but I wanted to leave a comment. I searched online for 'additions to log homes' and your blog came up. My purpose for the search was to see what is out there since we are in the process of adding on to our 20 year old log home. It looks like we may have started around the same time and are going to end up with a similar look. We are currently staining the boards for the siding (doing it ourselves to save some money) and I started to get nervous thinking about all the decisions we've had to make. We have chosen to go with a dark green and red trim to match the red trim of the existing log home and red roof.
I wanted to tell you that your home looks wonderful and has given me confidence in our addition. Actually, I am going to also start a blog to post pictures as you have done so that I can share it with my family rather than sending them the email pics. So thank you for the blog and letting others take a look at your beautiful project! And best of luck to you!

There are a lot of decisions! The latest was the color of the electical outlets and switches (we picked ivory). Thanks for the positive feedback and good luck on your project! Please let us know your blog link when you make it. GB

Well, I finally had some time to steal to get our pictures up on a blog. You were very smart to do it from the beginning! I spent all all last weekend doing it. Here is the link:

As you will see, ours is a modern version of your idea, since the original log home is much newer. The siding is V groove??? I think, I am not very good at construction talk, you can see it when we get it up and I post again. We chose this rather than a log home addition or even using fake log siding.
Thank you again for the inspiration. I spoke of your site and project to our builders. They think it is such a great idea, especially for people like me who have absolutely no vision! I really need to see things, so this whole process has been a little stressful. Longwinded...I know. Anyway, thank you again for sharing. And best of luck to you!
